LIVE & Faith: on staying, hope, and help.
This page is an optional exploration for those who draw strength from the Christian faith. If faith is not part of your journey, you are still fully welcome here.
The LIVE Initiative exists to help people stay alive, speak honestly, and find support during moments of deep emotional pain. For many, faith is not the source of that pain — but one of the anchors that helps them endure it.
The Bible does not hide despair, exhaustion, or anguish. It names them honestly, and meets them not with shame but with presence. Faith is not the absence of struggle — it is often what helps people remain inside it without giving up.
Faith does not demand certainty to choose life. It only asks for willingness to stay.
LIVE through a Christian lens.
Live
“I have set before you life and death... Now choose life, so that you and your children may live.”
Deuteronomy 30:19
In Scripture, choosing life is often a daily, moment-by-moment decision made under pressure, fear, or grief. Choosing to stay alive is not weakness — it is courage exercised one breath at a time.
Inspire
“...who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.”
2 Corinthians 1:3–4
Honest testimony breaks isolation. Presence speaks louder than advice.
Value
“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.”
Psalm 139:14
Pain does not erase worth. Failure does not revoke dignity. Struggle does not disqualify you from care.
Empower
“Plans succeed with counsel.”
Proverbs 20:18
Reaching out is not a lack of faith. It is wisdom in action. If a thought contradicts God's character of love, mercy, and presence, it deserves to be questioned — not obeyed.
Faith & hard questions
Honest answers, held with care.
Historically, some traditions framed suicide as rebellion or grave sin. Most responsible Christian theology today recognizes that suicidal thinking is rarely clear-minded defiance. Suicidal ideation severely impairs judgment, narrows perceived options, and distorts a person's sense of worth and reality. It is now more widely understood as the result of overwhelming suffering and despair — not deliberate rebellion.
Staying alive is not a failure of faith. For many, it is the bravest expression of it.
